The Chairmanship of ASEANSAI was handed over from the National Audit Department of Malaysia to the Office of the Auditor General of the Union of Myanmar at the virtual meeting of the 6th ASEANSAI Summit in November 2021. At the said meeting, the Assembly approved the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025.
2022 marks the first year of implementation of the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025, whereas the ASEANSAI’s activities were still affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. At the end of 2022, only one activity was organized as a face-to-face meeting, while ASEANSAI decided to organize the rest as online meetings.
The highest appreciation goes to the Executive Committees and all of the Committee Chairs for the effort in managing the ASEANSAI activities. Therefore, most of the activities planned in 2022 have been implemented successfully. Sincere gratitude also goes to all ASEANSAI members for their support in contributing to and participating in the ASEANSAI activities.
On the international engagement, ASENSAI and INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) have completed their collaboration on the two cooperative audit programmes: ISSAI Implementation Needs Assessment for Financial Audit (IINAFA) and IDI-ASEANSAI ISSAI-based Cooperative Financial Audits. The partnership between ASEANSAI and the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO) has been completed. However, communication and relations with them are maintained, and the possibility of collaboration is open in the future.
