ASEANSAI was formed with the hope of heightening public accountability and integrity by enhancing public sector auditing in terms of capacity building and competencies of ASEAN auditors. ASEANSAI strives to move forward by enhancing unity and solidarity, mutual respect, and the rule of law as the foundation of relations.
The year 2021 marks the movement towards the endemic and the recovery phase, where ASEANSAI has driven forward. ASEANSAI managed to maintain relations with other stakeholders such as the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee (CBC), INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), Office of the Auditor General of Norway (SAI Norway), the Swedish National Audit Office (SAI Sweden), the European Union (EU), the World Bank, and the ASEAN Secretariat. Undeterred by the global condition, various knowledge-sharing and training activities were also successfully carried out virtually to strengthen the relations and capacity of the members.
Further, as ASEAN member countries have adopted the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 to forge further cooperation within the ASEAN region, ASEANSAI continued to uphold solidarity and unity in order to work out the Vision while at the same time successfully implementing the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2022-2025. ASEANSAI focuses on the centrality of advancing dialogue, cooperation, and collaboration within and outside the ASEAN region.
The highest appreciation goes to the ASEANSAI Committees and members for continuous support, strong commitment, and good cooperation in the initiatives of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, which has not only assisted in the pandemic response but also strengthened the bonds among member states, displayed its courage and resilience amid the complex situation.
