ASEANSAI is an association of Supreme Audit Institutions of ASEAN’s member countries that has been established on November 16, 2012 in Denpasar, Bali. This organization consists of Supreme Audit Institutions of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. According to the result of ASEANSAI’s First Assembly in Bali, The Chairman of BPK RI is elected as the Chairman of ASEANSAI and The Auditor General of Brunei Darussalam, Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Mat Salleh is elected as the Vice Chairman of ASEANSAI.

The Executive Committee Meeting of ASEANSAI is the first meeting of executive committee after its inception. The meeting is attended by the members of executive committee, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of ASEANSAI. The meeting conducted in The Auditor General’s Office of Brunei Darussalam is preceded by technical discussion on ASEANSAI’s work program and continued by Courtesy Call between The Chairman of BPK RI and The Auditor General of Brunei Darussalam.

The executive committee meeting discusses the work plan of ASEANSAI’s executive committee and secretariat for the period of 2011-2013, the development of strategic plan of ASEANSAI, strategic alignment and bilateral cooperation between BPK RI and The Auditor General’s Office of Brunei Darussalam.

The Chairman and Vice Chairman of ASEANSAI have agreed four points concerning the work plan of the executive committee and secretariat for the period of 2011-2013. First, BPK RI will design the logo of ASEANSAI and distribute to all members of ASEANSAI for comment after receiving approval from the executive committee. Second, with regards to the next ASEANSAI meeting, executive committee agree to develop committees’ work plan and Terms of Reference in the committee meeting in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia at the beginning of February 2012 and endorse them at the informal meeting of ASEANSAI in Jaipur, India during the ASOSAI Assembly XII. Third, ASEANSAI will strengthen relation with related organizations such as ASOSAI, INTOSAI, ASEAN and international donors. The executive committee will conduct meeting with ASEAN Secretariat to introduce and register ASEANSAI as entity associated with ASEAN. The executive committee will also conduct meeting with international donors. Fourth, the Chairman of ASEANSAI will voluntarily host seminar or workshop in Indonesia in 2012.

The executive committee of ASEANSAI will also be involved in developing vision, mission and strategic plan of ASEANSAI. BPK RI and The Auditor General’s Office of Brunei Darussalam have agreed two points regarding the development of strategic plan of ASEANSAI. First, the roadmap of strategic plan is for twenty years and the period of strategic plan is for every four years. Second, the Chairman of strategic plan committee will conduct survey concerning the strategic plan’s content, vision, mission and goal then distribute the result of the survey to the executive committee, members of strategic plan committee and the rest members of ASEANSAI.

In this meeting, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of ASEANSAI discuss about strategic  alignment. There are 3 agreed points. First, the programs of all committees should be aligned in terms of activities, period and resources. Second, executive committee agrees to make a forum to harmonize all committees’ programs. Third, executive committee will give direction in the committee meeting in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

BPK RI and The Auditor General’s Office of Brunei Darussalam also discuss the plan of bilateral cooperation between two Supreme Audit Institutions. First, both SAIs will identify the area of cooperation in audit, training and knowledge sharing. Second, the scoping mission will be held in 2012 and the implementation of cooperation will be in 2013.
