The 6th ASEANSAI Summit was held virtually on 2 November 2021 and officiated with the opening address delivered by the representative of the Chairman of ASEANSAI, H.E. Roslan Abu Bakar, Deputy Auditor General of SAI Malaysia. As the Host of the meeting, H.E. Prof. Dr. Kan Zaw the Vice Chairman of ASEANSAI and Auditor General of SAI Myanmar also warmly welcomed the participants by conveying the welcoming remarks.
ASEANSAI Summit serves as an assembly meeting where the Head of ASEANSAI member countries appointed the new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of ASEANSAI. Around 90 participants as representatives from the ten ASEANSAI member countries, ASOSAI, ASEAN Secretariat, INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) and SAI Sweden, attended the 6th Summit. A Series of activities have also been organized prior to the Summit such as the Development Partner Coordination Meeting (26/10/2021) and the Technical Meeting for the Summit (1/11/2021) led by the Head of ASEANSAI Secretariat.
During the 6th Summit, the Assembly consist of Head of SAIs of 10 members SAIs approved the ; (1) Annual Results Report 2020-2021; (2) Strategic Plan 2022-2025; (3) the 3rd Revision Rules & Procedures; (4) the 1st Revision TOR Knowledge Sharing Committee; (5) Consolidated ASEANSAI Committee’s Work Plan 2022-2023; (6) Budget Proposal 2022-2023; (7) Decision for the ASEANSAI Legal Capacity; (8) Committee’s Chair; (9) Auditor for Financial Statements for the year ended 2020 and 2021; and (10) Handover of the ASEANSAI Chairmanship.
The highlight of the event was the handover of the ASEANSAI Chairmanship; from H.E. Datuk Nik Azman bin Nik Abdul Majid, Auditor General of SAI Malaysia to H.E. Prof. Dr. Kan Zaw, Auditor General of SAI Myanmar as the new Chairman and from H.E. Prof. Dr. Kan Zaw, Auditor General of SAI Myanmar to H.E. Mr. Michael G. Aguinaldo, Auditor General of SAI Philippines as the New Vice Chairman.
