The ASEANSAI Guidelines on Audit of Procurement is an enhancement on Guidelines for Public Procurement that was produced as a result of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Public Procurement which was initiated in July 2014.
The guideline was firstly published in 2015 by SAI Malaysia as the Chair of Knowledge Sharing Committee. Since then, the guideline has been widely used within ASEANSAI members. Along with the use of the guideline, some improvement are considered need to be put in place, such as the adding risk assessment, as well as the Audit Programme to help Auditors conducting the audit. It is also expected that the guideline will be served as a manual for Auditors to keep with the relevant international standards and produce better quality of Audit Reports. Public Procurement Audit is essential in order to provide assurance with regard to effective and efficient procurement process, in compliance with rules and regulations as well as obtaining value for money.
After the process of enhancement for a year, the guideline was launched at the 5th ASEANSAI Summit 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
